When to use a decorated tile
Decorated porcelain is the tool for resolving a focal point without resorting to another material or to wallpaper. A kitchen splashback, the back of a shower, a niche, a bar front or an entrance wall change character completely with a decorated tile, and they do it with the same durability, the same cleanability and the same maintenance as the rest of the floor or wall.
The practical rule is restraint: one decorated surface per space. Decoration gains strength when the rest of the room is neutral, and loses it as soon as it competes with several patterns or with patterned furniture. That is why our decorated collections are designed to combine with a solid colour or a concrete look from the same family, sharing base tone and format, so the transition between one and the other creates no mismatch in plane or grout.
In commercial projects it works well as an identity device in entrances, bars, fitting rooms and public washrooms, where you need a recognisable image that also withstands heavy traffic and frequent cleaning without losing colour or gloss. And in housing, it is the most economical way to give character to a guest bathroom or a small kitchen: one decorated surface changes the whole perception of the room without increasing the construction budget.
