Outdoor porcelain tile: safety and 20 mm

Outdoor porcelain tile is tested on three fronts at once: wet slip resistance, weather resistance, and color stability against solar radiation. Our 20 mm-thick pieces —we are the only ones manufacturing them in Mexico— together with the grip finish cover all three, with resistance to frost, pool maintenance chemicals, and thermal shock. In a climate like Mexico’s, where the same paving goes from direct sun to heavy rain in a matter of hours, that combination is what prevents cracks and tone loss in the medium term.

Thickness also changes the way it is installed, and that has very practical consequences on site. The 20 mm pieces can be laid on sand, gravel, grass, or pedestal systems for raised flooring, in addition to conventional adhesive installation. That opens up solutions where there is no screed, allows utilities below the paving to be accessed without breaking anything, and makes the material recoverable in a future renovation. Each piece supports more than 1,000 kg, which ensures stability under heavy traffic and continuous weight, and that is why it works just as well in a residential patio as on a rooftop or in a commercial area.

From an aesthetic standpoint, outdoor spaces are no longer solved with a material different from the one used indoors. Working with the same collection inside and out, changing only the finish to grip, erases the visual boundary between the living room and the terrace and makes both spaces read as one, a resource that greatly enhances the sense of spaciousness in homes with limited square footage. The multiformat collections and the paver line are designed precisely for that crossover, with stone-look, wood-look, and cement-look appearances that age well outdoors.
