Why choose large format porcelain

Large format porcelain is not simply a bigger tile: it changes the way a surface reads. By reducing the number of joints, the floor or the wall is perceived as a continuous plane, without the grid that fragments the eye, and that makes the same space look larger than it measures. In housing it is the most effective device for gaining a sense of space within measured square metres; in commercial projects the argument is economic as well as aesthetic, because every joint is a recurring cleaning cost and fewer joints mean faster maintenance and a finish that stays in good condition for longer.

For that effect to work, large format demands two conditions worth not taking for granted. The first is rectified edges: the sides must be cut square to allow minimal grout lines, because a large tile with an irregular edge forces you to open the joint and you lose exactly what you were after. The second is flatness. Across a generous surface, any undulation gives itself away as soon as light hits at a grazing angle, and it is the most frequent defect in mid-range product. Here we have a verifiable advantage: we are the only Mexican company that manufactures and polishes its own porcelain, with a third polishing module that delivers more gloss and a surface without waves.

On site, large format calls for a well-levelled substrate, back-buttered adhesive and experienced fitters, and that is the conversation to have with your installer before buying. In return, it resolves situations no other format can: continuity between interior and terrace by changing only to a grip finish, a shower panel with no intermediate joints, a kitchen island in a single piece, or a ventilated façade. Our multiformat collections let you combine large format with smaller sizes in the same design and tone, so you can use the big tile where it shines and a more manageable one where the layout gets complicated. And with the 20 mm thickness, which we are the only ones to manufacture in Mexico, large format also reaches outdoor areas with resistance to frost, thermal shock and heavy traffic.
